What are John Turturro and Lili Taylor doing in a movie with race cars on the
video cover -- a movie called All Revved Up?
Beats the crap outta me. I suffered through the 83 minutes of Revved and am no
closer to figuring out why it was made, what attracted its stars to the
project, or even what the hell it was supposed to be about.
It's a love story -- Taylor is a teacher and Turturro is a welder, and they
meet up via a friend in common (Will Patton), a guy that's borderline insane
and obsessed with lizards, all in the course of getting Lili's car fixed.
It's an action film -- as the auto shop turns out to be a crooked chop shop,
and a bunch of guys that work there regularly trot out to steal high-end
imports. Windows get smashed!!!
It's a mystery -- who are these shadowy men in suits calling the shots at the
chop shop???
You won't likely care, as the plot of All Revved Up quickly degenerates into
utter nonsense. I honestly have no idea how all of this is supposed to fit
together, or even what the resolution of any of those three tales is supposed
to be. No attempt is ever made to explain any of this; even Patton's character
gets in a fight with one of the car thieves -- and I have no idea why.
To be honest, I don't care, either.
Formerly known as O.K. Garage.
