BBC Radio 1's Big Weekend is pretty much the
first music festival in the British calendar and is well known for attracting
lots of big UK and worldwide artists. The Radio 1 Big weekend grew out
of the One Big Sundays which had run for years.
The event is spread over 3 stages "The Main Stage" "In New
Music We Trust Stage" and most recently "The Dance Tent".
Each year a City is chosen to host the event and in recent years Dundee,
Preston and Maidstone have hosted the event and in 2009 the event will
take place in Swindon. Tickets for Radio 1's Big Weekend are free with
a registration process.
