Lounge on the Farm
Place: Merton Farm, Canterbury
Dates: From 07/11/2008 To 07/13/2008
Country: United Kingdom
Kent’s coolest festival, ‘Lounge On The
Farm’ returns for its third outing on the weekend of 11-13th July 2008
and it’s even bigger and bolder than before with increased capacity and
new stages! 2007’s event established ‘Lounge On The Farm’ as a heavyweight
festival with a uniquely local twist and 2008 is set to take the extravaganza
to the next level. Set in the idyllic surrounds of Merton Farm in
Canterbury, ‘Lounge On The Farm’s rustic charms will play host to 160
bands spread across 6 stages, from local heroes and cutting edge acts to
renowned heavy hitters.
Lounge On The farm’s line up is an eclectic snapshot of a vibrant music
scene having established itself as an event that supports local break-through
talent and brings the big boys to the garden of England.
With an ethos firmly rooted in the local community the heartbeat of Lounge
On The Farm is ‘The Village Green’ where people come to meet, eat, drink
and be merry enjoying the hospitality provided by an array of concessions
from the surrounding community. From the hand reared pigs on the Hog Roast
and the fine 3 course dining experience of The Goods Shed gypsy caravan
restaurant, to all of the fruit and veg that is grown within a 20 mile
radius of the festival site, Lounge On The Farm’s buy local, eat seasonal
policy means that the food on offer will outshine every other festival
around and we haven’t even mentioned the drink yet.
Lounge On The Farm is proud to announce the arrival of a very special cider
for 2008! Brewed locally by Rick Stein Food Heroes Pawley Farm using
a traditional Kentish recipe of course, the specially blended cider has
been fermented in aged oak barrels since the festival's inaugural outing
in 2006, making for an exclusive mouth-watering tonic! Hopdaemon Beers
will also be running their own micro bar, using Kent's famous hops and
age-old brewing methods showcasing Golden Braid, a fine summer ale, Green
Daemon, a natural pilsner and Skrimshander for something a touch darker.
As a festival geared to all ages, this year sees The Little Lounge expanding
to cater for even more new-borns and up, from toddlers to teenagers. There
will be plenty of workshops to keep the kids interested with the local
circus school adding to the last year's repertoire that includes beatboxing,
kite making and DJing. There’s also the Red Tent for tots that will be
providing baby yoga, reiki for new parents and mothers meeting! This year
will also see the School of Rock, a countywide battle of the bands from
local schools that is sure to unearth Kent’s next superstars. Music for
Change will also bring drumming and story telling from all corners of the
world.
With their non-corporate stance and a commitment to supporting local business
and bands, Lounge On The Farm is the cream of the Kentish crop and a world
apart from all the identikit festivals on the calendar.
