Rock Upset About Troops Performance Snub Message Board and Comments
Comments
My son is stationed at Ramstein AFB in Germany. He called me this a.m. all
excited that Kid Rock and Zac Brown Band were performing on base. Zac Brown
was on stage singing Country Fried. "Can you hear it? Can you hear it? He was
elated. How dare this judge deny the men and women selflessly serving our
country, the pleasure of this musician performing?!
He should be ashamed of himself. These men and women are away from their
families and loved ones. How dare he deny them the simple joy of music!!!
To the judge: Alvin, are you ready to go to Iraq and sing? Are you feeling
any itch at all to go to Iraq for any other reason ? Probably not--You're nice
and snug here, nobody is shooting at you and the chance of a bomb going off
anywhere near you is passing slim.
At first glance one can see how you might think allowing Mr. Rock/Mr. Ritchie
to do his community service by performing for the troops as a vacation of
sorts, but consider deeper: He will be in a dangerous area, a dangerous area
HE chose, giving his fellow American's something to smile about at a time they
have little enough to smile about, and I'll let alone the polemics here and
stick to the subject at hand.
Is it possible for him to make a greater contribution to his, YOUR, country by
wearing an orange jump-suit and picking up trash on the side of I-75 or maybe
collating for the Atlanta Daily Journal ? Dirt on his hands? Ink on his
fingers ? I ask you to reconsider. Let him make some people happy and trust
to the climate that his eyes will be full of sand.
