Pitt Shocked By Anti American Attitude Message Board and Comments
Comments
Anti Aamerican, who is he? have you seen the propogand he dishes out as a good
American jew in his latest war film.
And you all ask why?
To Mr B.Pitt as a good german I would be more than happy to address this with
you face to face.
You need a smack in the mouth for this crap.
kuwaitiwhitedude: are you sh**ing me? You don't think you'd get a beating in
New York City,Chicago or Boston for being an obnoxious anti-american a-hole
LOL?Have you ever noticed the difference between say a baseball or hockey game
in these cities (as examples) and one in the south? The southern stadiums and
arenas are half empty and the fans act like they just banged a sack of heroin
compared to NYC,Chi or Bos. WTF are u doing in kuwait? If u aren't in the
military u shouldn't be ANYWHERE in that part of the world!I'm BULL*** having
our tax dollars (America in case u haven't heard is going BROKE!)go to "rescue"
people like you who go to places like Iraq and kuwait to live a lifestyle you
never be able to have in the states. You know if you really cared about the U.S.
it would be a good idea to build up the economy here, especially in the vast
unproductive rural areas (most of the damn country, the USA would be a 3rd world
country without NYC,Chi,L.A and other big cities)where many military personel
come from and are forced to enter the service out of necessity not because
they're more f***ing patriotic than from a blue state LOL! There are PLENTY of
servicemen and woman from the northeast and west coast a-hole. I'm one of them.
And Brad Pitt is a dick. If I was s***faced I'd probably F with him too.
The question should be is: What has Europe done for us?
I traveled in Europe in the 60's and 70's. It is good to know that somethings
have not changed! They hated us back then as well. The only time they liked us
was at the end of the 40's. And it is easy to understand why, "what have we
done for them since then?".
I am so tired of these narcissistic megalomaniac celebrities getting on their
soapboxes passing off their unsolicited self absorbed illinformed opinions as
fact! You run into some over-served bar dwellers spouting anti-american
sentiments and that in your mind reflects the sentiments of all Europeans?
Message to Brad Pitt, you live in a bubble, a tiny protective unrealistic
bubble, you know absolutely nothing about life in the real world. Your
impression of an isolated encounter reflects your ignorance. I have traveled
Europe, and you clearly do not know what you are talking about. While Europeans
may disagree with our politics and dont particularly care for GWB (didnt care
for BC either), my experiences have been very positive and incredibly gracious.
Your ignorance belittles Europeans, as they are not all obnoxious small minded
ingrates as you seem to imply they are.
Poor braddy ...perhaps the little boy could walk around East L.A at night at
meet some "party goers" willing to kill him.
Id celebrate that death .
The young man should grow up. If one lies down with dogs one gets fleas as the
old adage goes. He should seek out better company - and behave accordingly.
It appears that he was looking for an "incident." I have lived in Europe and
Mexico - speak French, Spanish, and Italian. I have two university degrees, and
I condsider myself a worldly person. One must inspire respect especially when
not on one's home turf.
The Dutch have basically ceded their country to radical Islamists, so it doesnt
surprise me that local hooligans would have to find someone to vent their
hostility against, since they dont have the stones to stand up to the people
who butchered Theo Van Gogh!!
Funny thing Brad... when you come to America people feel the same about you
here. Is your wife hitting you already too?
I'm guessing they were Arabian princes out late drinking before the private jet
back to the "old" country.
There are more Muslims per capita in Holland than any other European city. Go
to Amsterdam and you can see a whole country with Stockholm symdrome!
Oceans 12, how many years ago? Why is this news now? If anyone has been to
Amsterdam no one rides there bikes on the side walk. Secondly, if they were
Dutch they will curse you in Dutch not English! Lastly, the Dutch welcome
Americans and for a true fact, the Netherlands have one of the largest special
forces units in Iraq and Afganistan. The Dutch know all to well about Islamic
terrorist! Theo Van Goeh was murdered by these pigs.
The majority in Amsterdam are not from the Netherlands and there is a huge
population of trouble making Muslims which the Dutch hate.
As if Pitt hasn't done his share to belittle America and American activities in
his travels around the world.
interesting that these comments would be made in a country where Muslims have
taken a firm root and killed Theo VanGogh in broad daylight while riding his
bike.Shot him, shot him after he fell, slit his throat, and drove the knife thru
his heart with a "note" attached condeming him for producing a film critical of
Islam.
tip toe thru the tulips,my ass.
It has always been fashionable for Hollywood denizens to find a reason for
Americans to feel bad about themselves. This incident with Mr. Pitt is no
different, the truth is that the world does not hate Americans, they hate our
current government and its leaders. I highly doubt Mr Pitt's actions abroad
were truely as polite as reported.
I too share the sentiment that we are the greatest nation on earth, but I also
feel that any American (and Frenchman) traveling abroad should first be
required to take a course in humility.
Brad Pitt is just another oblivious Hollywood birdbrain who has no clue what
the real world is like. One incident does NOT make for a world-wide epidemic
of "hatred"!!! These Hollywood idiots make America look like a bunch of stupid
idiots and it makes me mad. Just because you can pretend to be someone you're
not on screen or carry a tune does NOT make you politicially astute or wise in
the ways of international culture.
I've been blessed to be able to travel in this world and 99.9% of people I come
in contact with are very polite and kind to Americans. Sometimes some of the
men were a little too kind...... I'm going to Greece and Turkey next month and
expect to be treated kindly there.
Get a life, Mr. Pitt. Time to come back to the real world!
Brad has formulated his anti-american opinion based on some drunk guys coming
out of a bar giving him some lip. Could he possibly have some anti-american
sentiment already inside?
Does it NOW occur to these vapidly stupid Hollywood types like Brad Pitt and
his ilk (and lets not forget the Dixie Chicks, too) that this is the result of
their insults about THEIR OWN COUNTRY that causes such hatred overseas?! When
the priveleged few who get a microphone thrust into their faces and smite the
good name of America and Americans (especially on foreign soil), there IS a
backlash against ALL of us! Hello? Is there anybody in there? Brain-dead
fools!Terrorists and radicals WANT TO KILL US!!!!!!ALL OF US!!!!!! They don't
care WHO you are as long as you're not one of them. And the rest of the world
sits around an gleefully lets them! Wake up, you DUMBA55ES!!! You are just as
responsible as the government you hate so much!
Has it ever occured to these over-paid, over pampered, idiots that when thy hit
another country they expect to be treated like visiting royalty? they expect
freebies, people to step off the sidewalk as they pass, and not to mention they
are endowed with brain cells the size of a flea. Shut up, and just get the
hell out of the country and go home to your own kind...u know the people who
walk on velvet carpets and etc. IDIOTS!
That's BS!! I've been all over Europe many times and even as recently as this
summer all the girls on the bus want to take me into the bathroom and not just
to watch them pee!! They love Americans!! Drunks are drunks and will pick a
fight with a rodent if necessary. Brad Pitt probably spit on them and wouldn't
share his joint!
When is the world going to understand that most Americans, unlike Pitt,
couldn't care less whether we are 'liked' or 'loved' around the world? Do not
be fooled: It's only the chattering classes in their ivory towers who rend
their garments over the 'loss of good will' blah blah blah.
We are a great country and will remain great as long as we continue to have the
courage of our convictions. World opinion be damned!
That's impossible. It could never happen. America is loved around the entire
world. Nations are petioning to be the next in line for invasion and liberty &
freedom under gunpoint. Even Iran keeps working on nuclear proliferation
because secretly they want to be sodomized by our mighty American military.
Yay, Bush! Four more years!
Maybe the change in the way other countries perceive us has something to do
with the fact that Mr. Pitt and his kind won't shut the h@ll up about how
miserable, stupid, power hungry and bigoted America is. Isn't that exactly the
message he and all the other liberal celebrities have been trying to get out to
the rest of the world? Geez, they all make my head explode.
The Pitt story is so obviously a political ploy as to be unbelievable!
Unreal! Only a complete moron wouldn't see this for exactly what it is --
liberal/democrat propaganda, pure and simple!! I figured they were going to be
talking about his new movie Babel. No, they're talking about a movie he made
roughly two years ago! And then we're supposed to care about what a few
foul-mouthed Dutch drunks yelled at an American back then?!? Are Dutch drunks
considered to be a reliable poll of European sentiment?!? It boggles the mind
how low Hollywoodians and liberal/democrat operatives will stoop to further
their causes. What if the drunks had yelled out something like, "We love you
American. Come have drink with us!". Would that make the news? Well, it has
to pass one major criteria -- it is anti-American, i.e. liberal/Democrat? No.
Then the story would never see the light of day. And yet how many nice and
encouraging statements are made towards Hollywood actors? Many more than
negative ones, you can bet! Ever hear about them, especially around election
time?
"unless they recognized him and were jealous cause he's sleeping with better
quality women than they are!"
Hey, Ken. I am pretty confident that this is not the case. Isn't he shagging
that skank Jolie?
... probably an old rerun of "Kalifornia" was playing in the bar, enough to
cause a jihad. These people see Americans portrayed by hollywood and take it
as reality. Real america does not deserve this, time to start making better
movies. incognito, her name is "Heaton" not Henton. are you old enough to
play with the computer unsupervised?
Is there some reason this is news? Ocean's Twelve was filmed over two years
ago. What timing! Pitt getting yelled at for trying to run over some drunks
wasn't news a couple of years ago, and it certainly isn't now just because
we're a week out from elections.
Either Pitt is out stirring things up for political reasons or contactmusic.com
is.
Top Story? How about "Top Propaganda?"
So is Pitt proposing we base our government policy upon the feelings of a group
of drunken Dutchmen? Now there's an idea!
Why is Pitt surprised at the anti-American sentiment? He is among those
leading the charge of American celebrities who denigrate their country at home
AND abroad in the media.
Thank you to the guy in kuwait. When he states: "Pitt and the media (including
this place to publish this) are biased idiots. Nationalism is alive and well
throughout the world except in blue state America", he states nothing but the
truth. But not only is there a natural nationalism going on in those European
(and the rest of the world) countries. Don't you all understand that the rest
of the world learns their attitudes towards America and Americans from our own
media? I've been to Europe and they are shocked to learn that there are some
people in the USA that actually agree with the president. They are astonished
to learn that some Americans still think their country is good and generous and
should remain strong. You know why? Because they only read the opposite
view. Where? In their press that reprints or reports on what our own media
has to say.
So, if you want to blame anyone about the anti-American attitudes some of you
encounter, tell the NY Times, the Washington Post, Time Magazine, Newsweek
Magazine - and let's not forget CNN, ABC, NBC, CBS, NPR. They are the root of
the anti-American bias you will see reflected by our neighbors throughout the
world.
I could never unerstand why America and Americans were so hated by so many
until recently.
My son was framed by the U.S.Dept. of Justice. Listen to what the DOJ
attorney Robert Adams said to my son's attorney: "We couldn't care less if my
son was found not guilty. We are really after someone else who was on trial
with him." You don't have to be a lawyer to know that when the DOJ indicts
you, and puts you on trial, and doesn't care if you are found innocent, that
that is criminal, completely immoral, 100% devoid of scruples and 100%
unscrupulous.
Robert Adams made a big time about how he reprsented the U.S.
If he is similar to everyone else representin the U.S. you can easily see
why no one likes us. He makes up facts, distorts facts etc. The U.S. can't be
trusted.
I don't like the loud mouth outspoken celebreties either. I would not take
their words for anything. They're addicted to publicity and usually are not
authorities on anything. I've been to most major countries in the would
and find most people are friendly and polite. The exceptions have not suprising
were muslim. This goes back 60+ years.
Pitt and the media (including this place to publish this) are biased idiots.
Nationalism is alive and well throughout the world except in blue state
America. Danes love being Danes, all of Europe is nationalistic, go to the 3rd
world and it's more intense, (just go to Mexico if you need that education).
Now if Pitt were an Italian, German, French, Polish, African, Arab, Chinese,
Indian, or whatever, do you think these Danes would have embraced him? Get real
Pitt and STFU and stop hogging the press a week before the election, you idiot!
I am shocked that Pitt is unaware of the euroweenie's attitude toward America.
Yes, some please tell Patricia Henton to SHUT UP! Her inexperienced opinion is
what led her into accepting the role in the fakeumentary Path to 9/11...
Jeez
Who's Brad Pitt? And why is he riding a bicycle at midnight in a foreign
country? Would he try that in downtown NYC, LA or Chicago? Doesn't matter if
he's American or not. Since movies and music are America's #1 export (and most
of it goes against Islamic and other religions core beliefs), and maybe if he
and his ilk just acted and/or sang w/o making everyone also hear their
non-expert opinions on everything, the rest of the world wouldn't be so
anti-American? Another underinformed yet gullible Hwood know-it-all engaging
the mouth w/o using the brain first.
As an American who lived overseas for 12 years, I found Amsterdam to be the
LEAST tolerant of ANY city (but the Netherlands as a whole, is LOVELY, as are
the citizens), and the most dangerous feeling. Mr. Pitt needs to recognize the
source of the anti-American sentiments, and the location. In our years living
in Europe, we never encountered hostile attitude towards us EXCEPT in a parking
garage in Amsterdam.. and it was in front of our very young children.. AND..
they were middle eastern men.
My family and I lived in the Netherlans for three years as expats. We came to
know the Dutch all too well. Brad Pitt is making far too much of his
night-time encounter with drunken Dutchmen. The opinion of a Dutchman is the
last thing I would be worried about in this life. Dutch culture verges on the
contemptible, and is certainly nothing to aspire to. Let the Dutch have their
drunken opinions -- nobody cares anyway. For an illustration of Dutch courage
and backbone, one need look no futher than the brave Dutch soldirs who
obediently handed over 8,000 civilians to genocidal Serb killers in Srebrenica
so they could save a handful of their own. The Dutch have no claim to moral
superiority. If anything, their clam properly lies in massive moral
inferiority.
maybe if brad pitt, other socalled ''hollywood elites'', would stop the constant
''bushhate'',bashing our nation, there might not be so much antiamericanism in
the world. it might help if pitt would return to his missouri roots, mingle with
some of us who live in the ''show me state'',see how real americans live, think.
hollywood is not real, especially when all[most] of his peers ARE virulent
''bushhaters'',totally antiamerican!
I absolutely agree with tulipred's comment. Anti-Americanism is OLD, OLD
news. I've been an American living in the Asia Pacific and Europe since 1987.
Brad Pitt's encounter reminds me of several I've had in Sydney, Australia back
in the 1980's, and Paris recently. Is it worse today? Yes. Primarily due to
Iraq? NO. Bush? NO. The under-40 internet millionaires that were created in the
US during the late 1990's? ABSOLUTELY. It highlighted our extreme success and
the relative failure of most of the rest of the world; i.e. American
hyper-dominance. A travel tip for Brad from an old expat: NEVER open your
mouth around drunks overseas for almost ANY reason. It's far better to be
thought of as anti-social or stupid. I learned this valuable lesson quickly.
So, let me get this straight....Brad Pitt "discovered how unpopular America is
across the globe" because some drunk guys came out of a bar in the wee hours of
the morning and made a derogatory remark about Americans? Wow, what an
incredibily advanced and thorough mechanism for gauging overall world opinion.
ContactMusic.com is on the cutting edge of world events!
I would lay odds that a ham like Pitt thought he owned the street and probably
ran over a few folks down the sidewalk thinking all should be in the prostrate
position worshipping him and bailing out of the way. Kind of like the toadies
in America who follow this wretched freak.
Brad Pitt at one time was a pretty boy and a half decent actor. But he got
old, married a moron, and has deteriorated into another Hollywood wash out.
Move to France Brad - that way you'll only get your hybrid torched.
I don't really care what the world thinks of us or what Brad Pitt thinks about
it.
I like his movies but he can move to Nigeria for all I care.
And you know what????....maybe it is time for the USA to close up shop around
the world and bring our people and $ back home. (those people that want to come
home that is)
Pitt should not be surprised. Hollywood, Dixie Chicks, and media a very much
to blame here.
I lived and worked in Geneva, Switzerland in the mid through late 1970's. I ran
into this kind of antiAmerican sentiment all the time...when I was heard
speaking American-English. In one case, while in a department store, a man
picked up an American item and threw it at me yelling for me to go home to the
USA where I belonged and to take all American products with me and leave the
rest of the world alone. I knew the store manager and he was horrified. He
protected me from the attacker and escorted me out of the store while other
workers took care of the offender. But I found that for every hater of the USA,
there were many more who loved us and what the country stood for. Wasn't in the
1960's when the book, "The Ugly American," was so popular? This antiAmerican
sentiment is nothing new!! Nor will it ever go away. That's the price we pay
for being the "leader" of the world.
I'm a little surprised by Brad Pitts comments.
When the Dutch speak English they sound American to me .. How did they know he
wasn't Canadian . unless they recognized him and were jealous cause he's
sleeping with better quality women than they are !
Maybe it was a group of Muslims having fun before going off on a suicide
mission?
There has always been anti-american sentiment around the globe, not that I've
witnessed first hand but even online, on an IRISH message board!
So, if Pitts trying to imply it's due to our recent actions I believe he's
mistaken.
Hate/envy never go out of style. :(
Nice generalization by Mr. Pitt, an intelligent remark that should be taken
lightheartedly. Would've been a real headline had he been beaten.
Brad Pitt,s description of a single incident ( if in fact it ever happened at
all) does not sum up evidence of anti Americanism. I have been to Europe 10
times and have never had anything remotely similar occur. Pitt, I venture, is a
lefty who wants to show how Bush is ruining things for travelling
Hollywoodites. Politics aside, politeness seems to be the rule in most European
settings.
My wife and I have traveled all over the globe and have never had anyone call
us F---ing Americans, on the contrary. We have posed with Palestine soldiers ,
been given Turkish flags during a political demonstration in Istanbul, had
lunch in an Egyptian market with a cab driver, and shared a pizza with some
French students during an anti-american demonstration in Paris, etc. Have we met
rude people, yes, we even have them in our own hometown. Pitt just had a bad
experience. If he had been French, German, Italian, or even Dutch, they would
have reacted the same way. There is no reason for Pitt doing a Chicken Little
act, the sky is not falling. By the way, there ARE some Americans that travel
overseas that are so rude that even I would call them F---ing Americans.
How could they even see him at midnight? What kind of person goes for a
bikeride at midnight? No security with him? Was he wearing a helmet? I'll
bet the film bonding company was interested to hear about his jaunt. This
story is b.s., just like Kevin Spacey's midnight 'walk in the park' when he got
his @$$ whipped.
There's something plainly wrong when a person is yelled at by a group of
drunken idiots, and then, instead of condemning the drunken idiots for their
idiotic drunken behavior, gives the drunken idiots credibility by saying, "oh
yeah, these drunken idiots must be right. It's all our fault." How about
condeming THEM for their boorish behavior instead of siding with them and
kicking yourself? For the life of me I can't understand this attitude--which is
so prevalent in liberal circles--that America is always wrong, that we're
always doing something bad to make foreginers "hate us." Maybe it's the other
guy who is wrong once in a while...but you'll never get a Hollywood type like
Brad Pitt to even consider that idea.
This is just patently false. We just returned from an entire summer spent home
swapping in Amsterdam. We bike EVERYWHERE and live like locals!! Pitt has it
wrong. Cyclists are usually Dutch locals who grow tired of drunk pedestrian
tourists meandering on their bike paths. An impatient bell ringing is all
you're likely to encounter, as the Dutch, a more friendly, polite person you're
unlikely to ever meet. Notice he said a "midnight bike ride." Next he'll be
making judgements from the window seat in his private jet. Honest, there was a
Dutchman scowling at me on the ground!
Ah Yes!!! The drunken Dutchmen's opinion is what we should be worried about.
Let's change our foreign policy, pull out the troops and repeal NAFTA. Thank
you Mr. Pitt for your insightful commentary and inordinate powers of
observance. You ought to be an ambassador!!
Brad Pitt, like so many Hollywood stars is not in touch with the real world. He
& all his friends have spent the last five years trashing the president of the
U.S.A. and telling the world how ashamed they are of America. What does he
expect some drunk over seas to say to him? I was verbally & physically attacked
in an Atlanta hospital - in the U.S.A. - where I was a patient because a male
nurse ASSUMED I voted for George W. Bush. It was frighting, so frightning I did
not say a word and he quit poking me in my arm shouting at me when the tears
began to run down my cheeks. I blame that on the 75% of the American press who
have hated George W. Bush since election 2000, before we were attacked on
September 11, 2001 simply because they belive Bush stole the election or the
Supreme court gave him the electon. But Brad Pitt knows that the Democrats
continued to loose in 2002 & 2004. We have a "mid-term" election November 7,
2006 and the only way "they" - Hollywood know how to campaign for their
candidates is to be embarrased of America who has given them so much and spread
hate for George W. Bush. The Dixie Chicks have a movie out at this time in
America...they feel sorry for themselves that some country music radio d.j.'s
and fans destroyed their C.D.s and refused to play/listen or buy their music
anymore after the Dixie Chicks told a London concert that they are ashamed that
George W. Bush is from their state of Texas. They, like George W. Bush, or any
political pundit or candidate have received death threats which are horrible.
There is a movie out now which shows George W. Bush with his real image being
assassinated - how sick is that free speech produced by talented, itelligent,
billionaires & millionaires? America has freedom of speech - America is a
wonderful country and most Americans do not have the same platform to express
their opinion about an elected official to people around the world - EXCEPT in
FORUMS LIKE THIS! What do they expect some people to buy into? My son served in
the U.S. Army four years. He was stationed in Germany 18 months. He wrote home
"Mom as we drove through a beautiful town in Germany the people lined the
streets to say - GO HOME AMERICANS" Many people in Europe & around the world
have not liked the presence of U.S. troops in their countries during peace time
- and they don't like us now. I believe prejudices are handed down from one
generation to the next or they are taught in today's society. Brad Pitt loves
America I'm sure as America loves him. But he/they don't realize that when they
trash Bush, they trash a lot of us. George W. Bush was the first American
president who was attacked on American soil and lost 3,000 innocent men, women
& children at the hands of al Qaeda terrorists - we have leaders in the world
today who want to kill Jews & Americans NOW. Isn't that a lovely? I simply
wonder why the American media, one huge corporation, Time
Warner/ABC/CNN/NYT/AOL/TIME and other entities of Time Warner believe it at the
best interest of America or the peole in Iraq, Afganistan, Pakistan, etc., to
report only negative news while pushing their own personal agendas on people
around the world. If you read the news in America today, you would think you
were in another country. CNN ran a video given them by al Qaeda terrorits
showing the terrorist shooting American soldiers...CNN does not agree it is
propoganda for the terrorist, they believe it is news. They have no pride and
they have brainwashed many people, like my mother for example that we "were not
REALLY attacked on 9/11 - not the entire country - they bombed one of those
buildings when Clinton was president" my mother adores Bill Clinton - he is a
rock star around the world. He was nice to the terrorist who attacked Americans
three times on his watch. He fights to this day that he did more than anyone to
kill bin Laden. I suppose he did. If he says it, and his administration says
it, and Hollywood who idolizes him says it - it must be true. THE BOTTOM LINE
IS THIS - I WAS BORN & RAISED IN AMERICA - I AM PROUD TO BE AN AMERICAN - I
WOULD
NEVER TRASH ANOTHER COUNTRY TO ANYONE - WHERE DID GOOD MANNERS GO?
I've been to Amsterdam several times before and after the middle east nastiness
and I've never encountered anything like that. The dear Dutch were probably
more riled up about Pitt's bad bicycle etiquette than his nationality. It just
sounds so cool to say "you f*cking American..."
Besides, when was the last time you saw a real ethnic Dutchman in Amsterdam?
Russians, yes. Moroccans, yes. Eurotrash, yes. Ameri-trash, yes. Dutch?
Rarely.
That's hogwash. There's drunks everywhere. They would have started a fight
with anyone. I travel to Europe frequently and I find people there to be very
polite and welcoming to Americans. They may not agree with our President, but
there's no hatred towards Americans, in general.
Mr. Pitt was probably travelling at a high speed on his bike and nearly knocked
the drunks over.
Brad,
You should know better. And I think you do. Since when did you start worrying
about how foreigners percieve us. It used to be worry about how we percieve
foreigners. Oh well, as long as we are at fault, that is all that matters to
Hollywood. Would you be concerned if a bunch of drunks in Holland started
sreaming at some Brits?
Small minds often have big egos. So, go ahead and congratulate yourself on your
worthy observation. Then celebrate by flying to some other country on your
private jet or whatever else it is that you use to burn too much of our finite
resources.
Why should your be shocked. You and your entertainment friends, the MSM media,
ours and theirs, and most of the Democrats have been bad mouthing this country
for a long time.
This story and headline exemplify the misleading and hate-filled bias against
America in the UK media. Just because some drunk guys shout at Brad Pitt, all
of the World hates America? In the most unscientific poll ever (1 person says
so), a completely altered person or persons (drunk) make a single comment in
the middle of the night and that's news? OK - here's my poll: I say Contact
Music is the most superficial, worthless and therefore EVIL media source in the
UK. Tied with the Guardian. It must be true because I said so and I REALLY
believe it. And I'm not even drunk. Print that - or maybe only celebrities on
bikes count in your polls?
anti-Americanism has been deeply embedded in Europe for years. However, when
we needed America's help from the Germans and then the Soviets we kept that
hidden.
Now that we're no longer afraid of any threats, it's in vogue to spew hatred
for USA. Just wait until the Jihadists become bigger threats to the EU.
I have lived in Europe for 15 years and I have not had an experience like this
related to the fact that I am an American. I have come across drunks who were
rude, but they didn't know I was an American. They were rude to whom ever they
met. I have two questions for Pitt: How did they know you were an American?
Perhaps they recognized you as an actor, but I wouldn't expect that of drunks.
Lots of people speak English well in Holland and there is no reason to assume
you are an American. I have had people think I was from the UK, during the
football (soccer) season and be a bit rude. What other kind of exposure to
foreigners do you have? I teach in highschool as well as work with adults, and
get around Europe like I would if I were living in the States. I have not
encountered across the board hatred for Americans. I have met people who didn't
like George Bush, but it is no surprise. Nothing positive is ever said about
him in the media - though there are many positive things that could be said.
When President Bush was in Bratislava, Slovakia for a speach, I was there and
he was well received.

Do you speak Japanese?
You're Welcome
Best Regards,

Christopher Hitchens put it best: "A country that attempted to be in everybody
s good books would be quite paralyzed. The last time everybody said they liked
the United States (or said that they said they liked the United States) was
just after Sept. 11, when the nation was panicked and traumatized and trying to
count its dead. Well, no thanks. This is too high a price to be paid for being
popular."
Great... one more celebrity "expert" on geopolitical relations.
Arizona, USA
If Americans are hated in Europe you can thank Hollywood for that! They love to
knock their own country when traveling promoting their lousy movies.
Oh yes, this is an adequate barometer of 'global' anti-American sentiment. A
group of drunk*, Dutchmen**, threaten to kill Pitt***, after he swerves to miss
them on a bicycle****.
* There is not necessarily veritas in vino, sometimes just angry drunks.
** Only one city.
*** Angry drunk, and they might just not be Pitt fans.
**** They'd probably threaten a Frenchman who almost hit them on a bicycle.
In my opinion he can thank our own media for this. The MSM sucks up to the
terrorists and stabs its own countrymen in the back. This is the fallout -
other nationalities start beliving that we, the USA, are the problem!
I just returned from europe and, as has always been the case, some people
showed a decidedly anti-American attitude while most were friendly and curious.
I had a great time and wouldn't allow the drunken ignorance of a couple of
people sour me toward the hundreds of others we dealt with.
