Mr. Keir: I find your ignorant comments to be appalling. You personally attack someone who is obviously unable to defend himself. My father was a wonderful man and a great mentor to all who knew him. If you had adequately done your research, you would have found that he was baptized Catholic and only recently became a Jehovah's Witness. That aside, I find it "ironic" that you choose to question his character, given your recent statements in response to his obituary. You should be ashamed.

Ralph Kent was known as "The Keeper of the Mouse". While Walt Disney may have created the character, it was Ralph Kent who was responsible for making Mickey Mouse the "iconic global image" that it is today. An icon is an image or representation of something held in near religious reverence, or even worshiped. Mickey Mouse is exactly that -- a character that children round the world have revered and sometimes "worshiped" for decades. This is highly ironic given that Ralph Kent was one of Jehovah's Witnesses. Jehovah's Witnesses are the religious group generally known for their refusal to salute or pledge the American Flag, or even stand for the playing of the National Anthem. Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to "worship" the American Flag because the WatchTower Society teaches JWs that the American Flag is an "icon". The WatchTower Society cites Exodus 20:4 which prohibits the making of "any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath," and points to the "stars" on the American Flag. I'll leave it to the reader's imagination as to which "likeness" has received the most reverence from Americans over the past 70 years -- the stars on the flag, or Mickey Mouse. Another Bible verse comes to mind. I believe Jesus made some comment about Pharisees "straining out gnats", all the while they were gulping down a huge Mouse -- err Camel.
