Give the Man a Break!!! He's Human!!! Do you know anyone going through a bitter divorce that has a glow on his face? He's worked hard all his life since being a teenager and now potentionally will loose quite a bit including a reputation he has taken a life time building! Invading his memories of his marrige with Linda is stripping his soul of something very precious that he shouldn't have to defend. She struck me as a very strong person that in no way would put up with an abusive husband, her Chidren's personalities do not reflect an abusive father, in fact they seem to represent a very strong and close family to spite the celebrity status. I'm sure he is in deep thought and concern for Beatrice and how all this mud slinging is effecting her. He seems a man of great integrity who does many, many things for the benefit of man/woman/animal kind. It must be rough to have to continuously put up with all the questions and hidden agendas of every person who crosses his path. No wonder he's a little distant! JG

Actually, his business dealings were with Linda, not Paul, for her veggie cookbook, so I don't think he wanted anything from Paul himself, and this sounds like a very truthful human observation on behalf of the writer, that he never warmed up to Paul and found him cold, thinking he could easily buy people.
