A full Genesis reunion tour? I would count on sending men to Mars before THAT ever happens. And supposing Peter Gabriel and Steve Hackett did pledge for a tour I believe it would be entirely different than what most fans would expect. It definitely would NOT be some rag-tag express tour and definitely no sit-outs for Gabriel or Hackett. I believe it would be an extensive tear-down and re-progression/improvement of material spanning most likely 1970-75; there would be additional musicians/performing visual artists and of course nothing shy of dramatic, synchronized visual effects. 1970-75 was a very creative and colorful period of the Genesis career and I believe the material could be dramatically improved upon (example: 1999 version of 'Carpet Crawlers'). It needs to be something of a lasting impression that will bring eternal consolation for 5 decades of hoping or previously jaded/doubtful fans. It will be the final nova-burst to the 'Genesis career' and it will be the show of a lifetime that will echo in rock n' roll history for at least another lifetime. I have just enough measure of doubt to equate my measure of faith that they could do it if they really WANTED to. But if I see a footprint on Mars before that happens, I'll interest my faith elsewhere ;]

it would be great to see them as I never have, especially if they play the album LambLies Down On Broadway...it is one of my faves, esp. sides 1 and 2

I was at the Milton Keynes Bowl reunion gig in the early 80's. Desite the pouring rain the set was fantastic and the welcome rapturous. I first saw Genesis at the Roundhouse in London circa 1976 (may have been '75) and I for one would be over the moon to see the old line up play again in the UK!

Yes, you are right. However, that show wasn't publicized and the sound quality as well as the weather was quite sloppy. Lets just hope this one happens and that they actually have time to rehearse for it. Lets face it, playing suppers ready and the musical box will be a challenge....I hope they do a North American tour

Actually Gabriel appeared onstage with all former Genesis bandmates at Six of the Best in Lilton Keynes in the early 80s, a concert they did to recover all his bad debts from the first WOMAD festival. Phil Collins also toured as the drummer with Peter's band a few years later when Peter's drummer was unable to do the tour because of a broken limb.
