Aretha Upset With Beyonces Queen Of Soul Slip Up Message Board and Comments
Comments
I have seen another show with Aretha in it, and she became upset then too because
she felt she should have been the star. Grant it she is a good singer but not the
only one.I felt the remark was childish and petty.
CLEARLY BEYONCE SAID QUEEN NOT QUEEN OF ANYTHING JUST THE QUEEN AND THEN SHE SAID
TINA TURNER...
SO MS ARETHA IS STILL THE QUEEN OF SOUL
Whatever....Aretha is aretha but will never be tina turner, tina turner can performed, dance, move, sing
without playback and still acting on stage at the same time .She is breathtaking
and absolutly waouhhhhhhh... who else can top tina ? Don't forget she's 69 years old
in november and remenber how she was during the last grammy performance!!!
Aretha can sing gospel soul and choral but tina can do all of that ....and more r&b-rock-....She
is the best I love aretha but i'll never buy a ticket for her live concert it'll
be boring for me even i love her song ...But tina what a voice ,energy, elegance what a smile ....she
is tina turner she's the top ...I do agree with beyoncé ...Tina Turner she'S the
QUEEN ...our living legend ...Ask everybody in europe who is aretha they will say
i heard her name but i've never known who she is ...and ask in europe...africa and
asia because USA is not the world ...ask who is Tina TURNER...everybody knows her
even teenagers...so Who is the queen?
This message doesn't mentionned i don't love aretha but mentionned the queen is
Tina not Aretha !
Hey, I watched the Grammys and couldn't believe it when Beyonce called Tina Turner
the Queen. She's showing her age! I mean, she needs to grow up and realize that Aretha
is the Queen and she hasn't been overthown yet! Why do you think Aretha was in "The
Blues Brothers" and not Tina? Aretha is the Queen of Soul, and Tina is, like, not.
Aretha is to Simba as Tina is to Scar.
Well to be honest Beyonce and Tina were a wonderful package they did a great job
personally i loved it of course Beyonce addresed Tina as queen of soul yeah right
that was her view and i know she did not remove the title of Aretha being the queen
of soul she should not make a fuss out of it ,it was only Beyonce's view and seriously
there is totally nothing to beupset about to finalise Tina queen of rock and roll
Aretha queen of soul now everyones happy...
Tina Turner is definitely the Queen of Rock and Roll, but as her fans know, including
Beyonce, she is simply the best and is "The Queen", sorry Aretha. Her voice and
music have been an inspiration to many people and she is admired so greatly. I have
appreciated and enjoyed all Tina Turner has given us about her life, her emotional and
physical energy and her wisdom.
Tina Turner and Beyonce were wonderful together! It's too bad there's controversy
over Beyonce's bestowal upon Tina Turner. Tina has withstood the strong and smooth
currents of life, just as the river flows, and Beyonce will too.
I tend to agree with the 2nd comment (musicmaven). To be honest I assumed rightly
or wrongly, at the time Beyonce announced this statement that she meant the Queen
of Rock! which has, in my opinion always been Tina's title. Tina IS the Queen of
rock, pop rock or whatever label may be used!
When reading the 'heading' title of this article/discussion I assumed the controversy
was to be connected to reading Aretha's thoughts on Beyonce 'stepping on Tina's toe'
during their performance! More to the point I think...It put Tina right out of step. B
eyonce seemed to be over performing perhaps and not judging her routine. Tina was
very gracious under the circumstances.
I conclude by saying that Tina Turner is incredible and there is No 'one' performer
that will ever 'upstage' her, no matter what title she is given! It will always amaze
me (being as I am in the entertainmenmt business and speak with more than a modicum
of experience) that no matter what a performer does there will always be critisism
in one form or another. They were both GREAT. Paula Randell. Tina Turner & Cher Vocal/Visual
Impressionist.
I am surprised that Aretha Franklin turns out to be a "sensitive artiste" over that
comment! However, I, myself did clear my throat when I heard Beyonce speak "Tina
... Queen ..." and "Soul", as to these ears Tina Turner was more a Soul/R&B vocalist
in the really early years with Ike.
Tina Turner, Queen of Rock, or Rock-Pop seem to be better monikers, though her contemporary
CDs do contain "R&B"/Pop tracks, of course, such as "What's Love Got To Do With It".
Chaka Khan, or Gladys Knight would be more "Queens-of-Soul, in-Waiting" ...
But hey, Beyonce is young, plus she was starstruck with her idol Ms Turner lending
the stage.
I particularly noticed what Beyonce said and I was a bit surprised and confused as
its common knowledge that Aretha has been called the Queen since at least the 1960's.
When so many female singers are being considered to play the part of Aretha in the
movie about her life (and I do not know if Beyonce was even considered), it was an
extremely gross error, either in her judgment, or, in the writers lack of knowledge
-- it should not have been spoken.
