Oh yea, I forgot to mention Van played EXACTLY ninety minutes and then walked off the stage. Everyone thought he was taking a break but, when the lights went on and the roadies started picking up the instruments we all realized we just got conned into spending $150 each for ninety minutes of uninspired music with no beverages!

I saw Van Morrison March 11, 2008 in Austin TX and the show completely sucked. I paid $300 for a pair of tickets and was very excited at the prospect of seeing Van for the first time. Van played the songs from his new album (which is fine)but, he was too arrogant to play his older hits. He was completely oblivious to the crowd and was "going through the motions". What was even worse was he mandated the bars at the Austin Music Hall close the moment he stepped on stage!! No one in the venue could by a soft drink much less a c**ktail or beer. Management said Van would not play unless the bars closed because he is a recovering alcoholic. Are you kidding me?? I write this post to warn all prospective Van Morrison concert attendees. Save your money and play one of his CDs instead!!

Had the unfortunate displeasure of seeing van morrison at the united palace theater in NYC last night. The venue was excellent, the crowd ready, but he clearly did not deliver. He played for about 90 minutes, and did an excellent job covering his new material. But he did not play ANY of his older music, except for a poor rendition of GLORIA. There was no crowd interaction, and he never even introduced the band. At the end of the show, when the lights came up, most of the crowd was still in their seats, waiting for perhaps an encore when he would play "moondance", "brown-eyed girl" or something. But his ego, superiority complex, arrogance would not allow it. I have never heard a crowd leaving a concert so disappointed, at times chanting "Van Sucks", and the common theme was what a waste of $150. I understand an artist wanting to present his new material, but to not toss a loyal audience a bone is insulting!!!! I would not waste my money on him again.
