As a self-professed "gringo" being recently married to a Flor "look-a-like," I
have always been captured by the emotions and dynaics of latinas when they have
a conversation. When I saw poor Adam Sandler's character trying to "survive" a
tongue-lashing by not only the mother, Flor, but by the wonderful Cristina, her
daughter trying to convey the emotions of her mom.
This one scene, among others made "Spanglish" a ssupriosingly romantic and
hertfelt film. And the courage of Flor's convictions at the end despite the
public tongue-lashing she receives from her daughter is a testament to the
strength and bonds of her & her daughter.
A terrific film....
