Ray Davies Message Board and Comments

Saw Ray at Rochester Castle last night - cold and windy! Average age of the punters must have been 40+ and my view was blocked a lot of the time by a pair who must have been in their 70's frantically standing up, dancing about and singing along. The magic is still there; the old songs are still great, and the newer songs equally have his insight and power. Silly to have them turn the big screens off - not everyone wants to rush down to the mosh pit - particularly the folks in wheelchairs on the staging right at the back. The pacing of the gig was a bit dodgy - he really needs someone to persuade him to mix the old and the new and carry the crowd along. Pretending to finish half way through was pretty crappy - if he needs a break we were all old enough to sympathise - or was it just ego? Sorry about all that - he's still a genius.
