Kates singing and voice will appeal to the older generation, becouse, it's got real soul, real class and so much jazz without being Jazz, and its sooooo sexy! Even the lyrics can be interesting, check out the story of Mary Pickford. Fantastic voice and a songs kid! I havent bought albums in years but I have your three and can't wait till you hit the shops with the next one! Be nice to see you in Birmuingham, that could be a first for me, going to a live concert!

I usually listen only to western classical singing, but when I overheard Katie's Melua's voice on some ad (I think) on tv, I just had to find out who the singer was. I read that her music appeals to older people and that it's "uncool". If so, it must be because older people are more discerning. Her voice is so accurate and beautiful and the lyrics of her songs are original and poignant - not qualities I would assign to anyone else. Well, "uncool" is the new "cool" as far as I'm concerned.

Dear Katie, You have a lovely voice and don't take this the wrong way, but I am utterly convinced that one day you will cringe at the line 'there are 9 million bicycles in Beijing- that's a fact, its a thing we can't deny'- I mean, why would anyone want to deny that? It really sounds like you've searched a fact book for inspiration- at least drop the serious face and sing it with a tongue-in-cheek irony! For your own sake- to save embarrassment when you look back in a few years!
