Since when do people vote on Best Picture BASED on the subject matter? Just
because members of the Academy voted for a different picture, doesn't mean they
are homophobes or can't handle the content. It means they are broad minded
enough to look at all the elements that make up a great motion picture. And
Brokeback wasn't it. Get over it, Annie (aka Ms. Sour Grapes)
Well, gee, Annie, when my wife and I first saw Crash last summer ? I told her
this is the movie that will and should win the Oscar. Don Cheadle's role alone
was worth the whole movie. But then you condemn Crash as "trash" and complain
that next year we will be on the lookout for movies with adulterers with big
A's -- what do you think Brokeback Mountain is all about but adultery? Your
story reminds me of The Bridges of Madison County and The English Patient, two
wretched films that both glorified adultery. Like them, your story appears to
suggest that the real tragedy is that the adulterers were not able to be fully
satisfied in their adultery -- all three films seem to hold marriage in
contempt.
