The Rushes
The Rushes Biography
The Rushes are a four-piece band from South London via Leeds and Birmingham who make surging melodic rock, with hooks so catchy they're pure pop. Their songs are designed to be played to huge audiences in stadiums, and they have that anthemic quality necessary to capture the imagination of Joe Public without making concessions or compromising the music's startling power - think the musical attack of Muse combined with the melodic grace of The Police.
The Rushes formed in 2006 although Gerard and Dan have been playing together since college in Leeds. The two brothers Gerard and James were brought up in Birmingham. Joe is from Colchester and Dan is from South London. The band is now based in London. They released a 7" vinyl single 'What Are You Waiting For' in November '06 on their own label Frickin' Records.
The band have just finished recording their debut album for Island Records with producer Victor Van Vugt (Athlete, Nick Cave, PJ Harvey).
