TD Lind
Most of us were made to stand up and pay attention to TD Lind last year when he released his debut single ‘Come in From The Cold’, very quickly fans in the press and radio were singing his praises. A brilliant live session on BBC 6 music with Tom Robinson sparked off a number of plays with key radio tastemakers such as Phil Jupitus and Bob Harris (Radio 2). Also one of his songs was even used in one of the surprise hit movies of last year ‘Driving Lessons’ starring Julie Walters.

He dazzled at south x south west and his live shows really began to hot up with high profile supports with James Blunt and Mew,, and key shows at The Wireless Festival and The Americana Festival, which saw his powerful performance mesmerise the crowd and it also secured his reputation as a hot new talent to watch out for.

Now as 2007 starts warming up he is back with his new single ‘Radio Proposal’, set for release on March 5th acting as a prelude to his long awaited Album ‘Let’s Get Lost’ which is released on the 19th March.

About TD Lind

What an Englishman was doing living in the Highlands of Louisville, Kentucky is really anyone’s guess but he knew he was pursuing an inescapable dream to become a singer and a songwriter. This dream had moved him away from his farmhouse home and into a rock n roll band that travelled across Britain playing bars and pubs, it had put him into small night clubs in London and had him playing Jazz piano in the Duc De Lombard over a winter in Paris. Then somewhere between him singing blues nightly at Arthur’s Tavern across from his room on Christopher Street in New York, a cab ride that took him to New Orleans, and making coffee for sessions at Ocean Way studios in Los Angeles he found four great musicians, formed a band, and made Kentucky home. Playing songs from St. Louis to Huntington, from Chicago to Memphis, T.D. Lind was living out the best bits of Kerouac, exploring the promises of Eddie Cochran’s America, performing in front of thousands, driving a ’56 Buick Special, playing a 6120 Gretsch guitar, not escaping the dream.

After such extraordinary experiences, after some moments of great personal triumph – as a musician in his own right, as a collaborator, film scorer, as an influence – he was one day back in a room in Louisville, Kentucky when he pulled out a 4-track Tascam cassette recorder and decided to record in song his adventures. These songs were unlike anything he had previously written or sung.

And having put those songs down T.D. Lind came home to England.

A copy of that cassette fell into the hands of record producer Rupert Hine. It took a little time, and a little luck, but T.D. Lind and Rupert Hine finally met up in London at one of his local gigs. During the Chinese meal that ensued they agreed to meet in Los Angeles the following month to make a groundbreaking record. They spent the next eight months making a record so personal and so magical that it is close to overwhelming.

You need to have lived a life to have written these songs, and from the small clubs of Europe to the lost towns of the Mid-West of America, T.D. Lind has lived that life. These are the songs that lay bare the experiences of a great musician.

With an already glittering career in songwriting, he’s written and worked with the likes of Wilco and, more improbably, Ozzy Osbourne. Now set to make a name all of his own, TD Lind’s alt-country blues influenced pop music could just be the sleeper hit of the year.
