Video - Scott Caan Owns A Shiny Vintage Pick-Up Truck

'Hawaii Five-0' star Scott Caan drives away in his vintage blue pick-up truck after a day out in LA.

Earlier this month it was revealed that Caan is also a talented playwright, his latest project being 'No Way Around It But Through' which was shown at the Los Angeles Falcon Theatre. The play is essentially a dark comedy. He tells Theatermania.com: 'It comes from a really dark dysfunctional place. But it's fun for me to kind of find laughter in that' and adds, 'I like to find humor in things that aren't funny.'

Black And White (1999) Review

Good
A very unique and brutal subculture exists in America these days. It's a strange juxtaposition of harsh street life and uber-materialistic greed tempered with a sense of justifiability from a code of unwritten ethics. The world is that of the gangsta rappers, the ghetto boys, and the thug-life advocators that dominate the world of hip-hop and rap music. Black and White, the latest film by James Toback, explores this subculture that grows stronger with every new generation it affects.

The hardest thing about an outsider trying to infiltrate a subculture and explain it to the masses is that the truth is often lost in the translation. Toback throws together a huge canvas of characters and actors in attempt to create a clear picture of why white kids are motivated to impersonate black rappers' lifestyles and why rich whit guys treat black rappers like Arnold and Willis from Diff'rent Strokes.

Speed Of Life Review

Bad
When a movie opens with a scene of a naked Scott Caan bathing his character's also-naked invalid father (Leo Burmester), you know the Speed of Life is going to be pretty damn slow.

I don't know what else to make of this movie, another young-kid-can't-get-a-break flick, a kind of anti-coming of age story. Speed of Life features Drew (Caan) trying to care for dad, stricken with Alzheimer's. He's also enamored with a girl named Sarah (Mia Kirshner), a random street hussy who gets off on shooting guns, doing drugs, and having wild sex (as long as she is not required to get naked). Another friend is just trouble. And poor Drew just doesn't know what to do.

Bongwater Review

Weak
Unfortunately poorly realized, this tale of a pot dealer/artist (Luke Wilson) who ends up going all goofy for a local crazy (Alicia Witt) never really works -- throwing a pile of nutty character actors like Brittany Murphy, Andy Dick, and Jack Black at us in the hopes of making us forget there's no story here. That works from time to time, and Witt is always a charmer, but otherwise this one's a throwaway. Dig that video cover!

Ready To Rumble Review

Bad

David Arquette's escaped-lunitic-on-a-double-espresso style of nitwit comedy is an aquired taste. Or at least I assume it is since I don't find him funny but movie directors continue to cast him and AT&T saw fit to make them their collect-calling spokesman.

He's a one-note Jim Carrey wannabe with a Jerry Lewis IQ and two facial expressions: Half-asleep stoner and vein-popping screaming mimi. He's also a front-runner for Least Convincing Actor Alive, as he frequently seems to be looking desperately toward the camera for approval of over-the-top his antics.

David Arquette is also the star of "Ready To Rumble," a slow-pitch comedy about professional wrestling fans, seemingly made for some niche market of moviegoers that find Pauly Shore pictures too intellectually taxing.

Boiler Room Review

OK

A Generation X cautionary tale about greed and impatience, "Boiler Room" is a sharp-edged, adrenaline-driven movie that takes place in the eat-or-be-eaten world of crooked stock trading.

Populated by 25-year-old, overnight millionaires who wear their testosterone on the sleeves of their tailored Armani suits, this is an imposing, vigorous and pulsating picture that could have been mighty and portentous if writer-director Ben Younger hadn't cribbed half the script from "Wall Street" and "Glengarry Glen Ross."

Giovanni Ribisi ("The Mod Squad") plays an unscrupulous college dropout looking to make a quick buck with an underground casino he runs from his rented row house. But he starts seeing much bigger dollar signs when a newly-rich (and Ferrari-driving) acquaintance recruits him to cold-call moneyed suckers and pitch them investments for his suspicious brokerage startup.
