Sarah Silverman
Sarah Silverman Biography
Sarah grew up in New Hampshire and attended New York University. It was around this time that she began to pursue the Manhattan comedy circuit and spent a considerable amount of time honing her art in comedy clubs as she did in the classroom.
In 1993, she joined Saturday Night Live as a writer and featured character, but only logged in one season. Due to the fact that only one of her skits made it to air, she used that as a vehicle for her appearance on the Larry Sanders Show. She has since appeared on HB0’s comedy sketch show, Mr. Show with Bob and David, followed by several guest appearances on Seinfeld, Entourage and Star Trek: Voyager.
Her success went into orbit in 2005, when she released her debut feature film, Sarah Silverman: Jesus Is Magic. During February 2007, Silverman went on to star in her own comedy television series; The Sarah Silverman Programme, on Comedy Central. The show became a big hit and brought in a viewership of 1.8 million.
Silverman’s comic style is controversial, edgy and sometimes even over the top. She was raised by Jewish parents, so the topic of religion is often on the table. Throughout her comedy performances, she has also addressed issues that range from sex and racism.
Sarah recently impressed audiences in the documentary feature film The Aristocrats in which one hundred of the industry’s most prominent comedians tell a version of the same joke.
As an actress, Silverman has appeared in several films including There’s Something About Mary, School Of Rock and Ivan Reitman’s Evolution.
In 2007, Silverman hosted the MTV Movie Awards and stirred up controversy over her remarks towards Paris Hilton. Silverman made Maxim magazine’s Hot 100 List in 2006, placing #50. She ranked #29 and appeared on the cover of the magazine the following year.
In early 2008 Silverman produced a music video where she starred alongside Matt Damon, entitled I’m Fucking Matt Damon for boyfriend, Jimmy Kimmel’s birthday. The video became a massive hit on YouTube and generated 12.7 million views.
Kimmel retaliated by making a video starring alongside Ben Affleck, entitled I’m Fucking Ben Affleck; also featuring Brad Pitt, Cameron Diaz, Robin Williams, Harrison Ford, among others, that generated 8 million views on YouTube.
