Penélope Cruz Sanchez was born in Madrid Spain on April 28, 1974. Penelope studied classical ballet for nine years at Spain's National Conservatory up to the age of 15 when she decided to concentrate on her true calling acting.
Penélope Cruz was taken under the wing of Pedro Almodovar one of the Latin world's best directors. Penélope Cruz has appeared in many of Pedro Almodovar's movies including Vanilla Sky where she met Tom Cruise. Tom and Penélope were later to be married. The couple split in 2005.
