In April 2003, Jamie Cullum had an appointment at the offices of record label Universal Classics And Jazz. He trooped in, had a quick re-read over the contract he, his managers and lawyers had already pored over umpteen times, signed his name a couple of times, and trooped out again. UCJ had just committed to spending £1 million pounds on making and promoting this unknown 23-year-old's music over the course of several albums. Jamie Cullum had just set the ball rolling on what would become the music phenomenon of 2003... and beyond.
