Cut Off Your Hands

After the heady successes of their Australia/NZ released eps Shaky Hands (2006) and Blue On Blue (2007 - Produced by Bernard Butler - Manic Street Preachers, Suede, Libertines) the thrilling power-pop outfit Cut Off Your Hands have continued in their rather non stop fashion. Relocating to the UK, where the band promptly inked a deal with 679 recordings, they were soon to release their debut 7” - the double a-side Still Fond/Closed Eyes - on Fandango, while their first single out through 679, Oh Girl, met a similarly positive response with fans and critics alike.

Continuing their vigorous assault on the UK, in the live arena this time, the band toured the nation relentlessly with the hot-to-trot Foals and also made slamming appearances at CMJ ‘07 and even a fly by night sojourn to Iceland’s epic Airwaves Festival alongside Bloc Party and !!!. Having recently returned to Australia and NZ over the 2007/2008 threshold recent appearances at Falls Festival in Lorne and Tasmania were met with rapturous applause. Despite the sweltering heat and vocalist Nick’s broken leg a wave of harmony wasn’t the only thing surfing through the crowd with Nick, caught up the moment, clambering over a sea of reaching hands.

Increasingly renowned for this hugely energetic live show Cut Off Your Hands, too, seem able to write hook laden tunes on a whim. Surely a sign of brilliant things to come.

Cut Off Your Hands tour nationally this January with Big Day Out before returning to the UK to track and record their anticipated debut LP with Bernard Butler once again at the control board.
