Earlier this year Coldplay’s Chris Martin expressed his love of several movies and songs that he found “helpful and wonderful” - among them being BTS’ smash hit Butter. We never had the singer down as a K-Pop fan, but we can’t blame him for loving the track.

This bromance goes both ways too, with the K-Pop superstars performing Coldplay’s Fix You on MTV Unplugged back in February with their blessing; that’s a big deal if you’re aware of how precious Coldplay are when it comes to letting other artists cover their music.

Streaming Until You're Blue In The Face: Are Artists Under Paid Each Time You Listen To One Of Their Songs?

Mick Jagger Sir Paul McCartney Tom Jones Kate Bush Wolf Alice Damon Albarn Coldplay Drake

In a recent open letter to the Prime Minister, Boris Johnson, major players in the UK music industry, including Sir Mick Jagger, Sir Paul McCartney and Sir Tom Jones, have called for a major reform of the way that they, and their fellow musicians, are paid by streaming sites. They argue that, "the law has not kept up with the pace of technological change." It is true that streaming sites pay in a different way to how payments were and are calculated for radio air play, but does that mean that the payment is too small or that the way it is calculated needs to change?

It was recently reported by the BBC that, "On streaming services, labels retain the majority of the money - with the artist receiving about 13% on average, and session musicians receiving nothing." This compares to a radio payment model where "royalties are split evenly between the record label and the artists/songwriters, with a small portion going to session musicians and backing performers, a system known as equitable remuneration."

Coldplay Chris Martin

With their new album set to hit this weekend and early reviews looking very positive, Coldplay fans will be likely disappointed to hear that the band will not be hitting the road to support it anytime soon. In fact, they won't be on tour for a while, at least until they can determine how to make touring as environmentally friendly as possible.

Chris Martin Gwyneth Paltrow Coldplay

Chris Martin has admitted that he was “a mess” after his divorce from Gwyneth Paltrow after ten years’ of marriage.

Everybody remembers the infamous “conscious uncoupling” phrase that the former celebrity couple used when they announced their split in 2014 after a decade of marriage. However, speaking on the imminently released Amazon documentary Coldplay: A Head Full of Dreams, the band’s frontman revealed that he struggled so much that his bandmates feared for his wellbeing.

Chris Martin's Tribute To Chester Bennington Is Beautiful

Chester Bennington Chris Martin Coldplay

Chris Martin has just paid tribute to the late Chester Bennington with a sensational cover of Linkin Park's hit single 'Crawling' during a Coldplay performance in New Jersey earlier this week. It's a far cry from the original, but it's certainly a tear-jerker.

The Coldplay frontman played a piano cover of the 2001 single during their show at the MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, New Jersey last night (August 1st 2017) and it proved to be quite the perfect tribute to his Linkin Park counterpart - even if he slipped up at the beginning and had to restart.
