Blood Red Shoes
Blood Red Shoes Biography
Once upon a time Ginger Rogers had to re-do a tap dance scene so many times that the camera man asked whether she’d changed out of her white shoes into some red ones. She hadn’t. It turned out she’d danced so hard they were covered in blood.
Blood Red Shoes is two people, Laura-Mary, who wishes she were Spanish, and Steven who wishes he were French, only they both live in Brighton on the south coast of England. After their previous bands ceased activity (Lady Muck and Cat On Form respectively) in late 2004 they got together for a jam for fun, Steven took up the drum kit and Laura-Mary played her guitar. It was loud for just two people.
That day the first song was written (with no singing), someone asked them to play in two weeks’ time, they stayed up all night emailing each other back and forth figuring out a name to go on the flyer, and a band was born. They got together and wrote two more songs, threw together some makeshift words and played the first set with three songs. Soon after, Jonson Family Records of London offered to release a 7” single, which sold out in a few weeks and got played on Radio One and XFM. Blood Red Shoes release their second single on Try Harder records on February 20th 2006. It sold out in advance of releases, and has been played by Steve Lamacq on Radio One.
Blood Red Shoes likes Babes in Toyland, Q and not U, cake, chocolate, childishness, Delta 5, zombies and horror, Nirvana, The Bangles, blood and gore, cups of tea, good shoes, dancing, knives, Huggy Bear, and being in a band.
