Neil Young is turning comic novelist to reinvent his 2003 concept album GREENDALE.
The record, which charts the development of fictional California teenager Sam Green, his extended family and how they were torn apart by a murder, has already been made into a film, written and directed by Young.
But now the pioneering rocker is teaming up with writer Joshua Dysart and artist Sean Murphy to turn the saga into a comic.
Karen Berge, an executive from publisher Vertigo, says, "I met Neil about a year ago. He approached us. He loves comics and he'd been following all the attention for graphic novels that's going on.
"Much like the rest of his creative work, it's his baby, and he'll have a big hand in producing the book and promoting it later on."
A release date has yet to be confirmed.
