Neil Patrick Harris will host the biggest night on Broadway - the Tony Awards - for the third time. The How I Met Your Mother star will take to the stage at the Beacon Theatre in New York on June 10, 2012 in a show that will be broadcast live on CBS, reports the Los Angeles Times.
The actor has proved a hugely successful host of the show, helming both the 2009 and 2011 ceremonies to critical acclaim. Though the show has experienced declining ratings in recent years, it appears as though producers are happy to stick with Patrick Harris once again. Usually the least watched of the major entertainment shows, the Tonys drew just 6.9 million viewers last year, down from 7 million in 2010. One year before that, the show drew 7.4 million, compared to the 39.3 million viewers that tuned into the Academy Awards. As well as his television work, Patrick Harris has starred in three Broadway productions including 'Assassins', 'Proof' and 'Cabaret'.
Before the Tony Awards, the actor will appear in the American Pie movie 'American Reunion', which stars the original cast including Jason Biggs, Seann William Scott and CHRIS KLEIN.
