The actor plays the villainous Count Olaf in the Netflix original series.
When Netflix announced they'd be bringing Lemony Snicket's novel series 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events' to the streaming service, fans of the stories were excited to find out that there would be another attempt at adapting the books, but this time for the small screen. It followed the unsuccessful movie which brought the first three books to the big screen, and saw Jim Carrey take on the role of the villainous Count Olaf.
Neil Patrick Harris takes on the role of Count Olaf in 'A Series Of Unfortunate Events'
Now, that's a character that falls to Neil Patrick Harris in the Netflix series, and he does a brilliant job of bringing the eccentric Big Bad to life.
Harris slammed Woods as "utterly classless" after the 70 year old actor made a tasteless remark about a transgender child.
Neil Patrick Harris has slammed fellow actor James Woods as "classless" in the wake of the recent Pride celebrations, in which the 70 year old actor made an aggressive and uncalled-for tweet about a young transgender child.
The Once Upon a Time in America star shared a picture taken of a family with their son at the Orange County Pride Parade in California, which bore posters reading: “I love my gender creative son!” and “My son wears dresses & makeup… Get over it!!”
Woods captioned the photo: “This is sweet. Wait until this poor kid grows up, realizes what you’ve done, and stuffs both of you dismembered into a freezer in the garage.”

They're all openly gay, but you might not know it with some of them.
Ian McKellen has offered his own opinion about diversity in Hollywood following the #OscarsSoWhite controversy. He believes that it's not only black people who are being overlooked in the film industry, but gay actors too; especially since straight stars have indeed won Oscars for playing gay men (Tom Hanks, Philip Seymour Hoffman and Sean Penn) but never the other way round.
It is more frequent than one first might believe that gay people in the acting world are often playing straight roles - sometimes exclusively - and there are very few who have found themselves playing only gay characters. Here are just a few gay stars who've played gay roles in their careers:
Rock previously hosted the Oscars back in 2005.
The 50 year old comedian and actor, whose career was dramatized in a recent movie Top Five, confirmed the news himself on Wednesday morning (October 21st) by tweeting a picture of himself holding one of the golden statuettes.
“I'm so glad to be hosting the Oscars,” said Rock in a statement. “It's great to be back.” Of course, he previously hosted the Oscars back in 2005, when Clint Eastwood’s Million Dollar Baby bagged the Best Picture. This makes him one of the select list of celebs who’ve hosted the big night twice in their careers in the recent past, alongside the likes of Jon Stewart, Ellen DeGeneres and Billy Crystal.

However, he's said before that he doesn't hold much hope of being asked again.
Harris, 42, was speaking to Us Weekly on Friday (September 4th) when he said that he’d be up for the task, one of the most prestigious and scrutinised roles in showbiz, if the Oscars organisers approached him for a second time. “I knew what I was getting into. It's a beast, but I'd love to do it again if I was asked!” he said.

Re-branded as 'The Best Time Ever', the Geordie duo will be there to help Harris to present the first show on NBC in September.
British presenting veterans Ant & Dec are to make a return to US television after their failed attempt to launch their career Stateside seven years ago.
NBC is launching a rebranded version of the Geordie duo’s early evening favourite ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ in America with the title ‘The Best Time Ever’, to be presented by Neil Patrick Harris. However, Harris has revealed that he’s asked Ant & Dec to help him present the first show next month.

Ellen Degeneres, Neil Patrick Harris and others show their happiness over the news.
All around the world hearts are bursting with victory as marriage equality is held up by law in every single US state. Celebrities have flocked to Twitter in their hundreds to express their support of the news, as the Supreme Court finally rules that same-sex marriage is legal under the Constitution.
Ellen Degeneres Tweeted her support of the marriage equality ruling
It's been a long time coming but the US has finally followed in the footsteps of the UK and Ireland by legalizing same-sex marriage in a move that has touched the hearts of millions. Justice Anthony M. Kennedy revealed the majority opinion was 5 to 4, before sharing his own thoughts on the verdict for those who would be affected. 'Their plea is that they do respect it, respect it so deeply that they seek to find its fulfillment for themselves', he said. 'Their hope is not to be condemned to live in loneliness, excluded from one of civilization's oldest institutions. They ask for equal dignity in the eyes of the law. The Constitution grants them that right.'

Red Nose Day airs tonight on NBC.
It's the first ever Red Nose Day in the United States today (May 21st 2015), and all manner of celebrities are donning the appropriate big red nose to raise awareness. It's one of the UK's most famous charity fundraisers - undertaken mainly for Comic Relief - but this year goes international for a host of charitable foundations.
Annoyingly, curvy reality star Kim Kardashian is now so good at posing in front of a camera that she even manages to maintain that seductive aura even while holding a novelty clown nose to her face, but many other celebrities provided some well needed laughs on this momentous occasion.
