Neil Halstead Announces New Single 'Spin The Bottle' Released May 13th 2013

Neil Halstead releases a new single, 'Spin The Bottle', on May 13. It's the second to be taken from his most recent solo album, 'Palindrome Hunches', which was released late last year.

The original album version - recorded in Oxfordshire with the Wallingford-based Band Of Hope - is augmented by a newly re-recorded take, featuring drums from Neil's Mojave 3 and Slowdive bandmate Ian McCutcheon and pedal steel from Melvin Duffy. The new arrangement turns this introspective song, which Neil says is about "opening up to the person you love", into soaring cosmic country, reminiscent of Beachwood Sparks at their best.

The digital-only release is completed with a low-key live recording of a new song, 'Chasing Rainbows', and a remix of 'Palindrome Hunches' standout 'Full Moon Rising' by electronica producer Mark Van Hoen (Locust, Seefeel). The remix (with its video, also put together by Mark) was premiered recently as GoldFlakePaint's Track Of The Day.

As well as dates in Scandinavia and China, Neil supports Mark Kozelek at Shepherds Bush Empire in London on May 13 and plays Beach Break Live in Newquay on June 20.
