Crooner Neil Diamond is so pleased with a new album he's recording with music mogul Rick Rubin he's hitting the road for what is sure to become one of America's biggest tickets of 2005.

The LOVE ON THE ROCKS singer last toured the US in 2001 and 2002 when he grossed an impressive $88.6 million (GBP46.6 million) and performed for 1.5 million fans.

And now he has lined up an initial 34-date tour, which will run from July to October (05).

The outing will allow him to perform new tracks from his upcoming Rubin-produced album, which is due this summer (05).

Rubin won acclaim for giving country legend Johnny Cash's career a resurgence in the years leading up to his death.

Diamond has already been testing some of the new material out on fans in Australia and New Zealand where he performed to sellout crowds at the beginning of the year (05).
