Introduction:

Ne-Yo, (born Shaffer Chimere Smith, October 18, 1979, is an American singer, songwriter, record producer, and actor renowned for his contributions to contemporary R&B and pop music. He gained prominence with his debut album “In My Own Words” and has penned numerous hits for other artists, solidifying his status as a versatile figure in the music industry.

Early Life and Background:

Born in Camden, Arkansas, Ne-Yo was raised in Las Vegas, Nevada. His mother, a musician, played a pivotal role in nurturing his musical talents from a young age. He attended the Las Vegas Academy of the Arts, where he honed his skills in songwriting and performance.

Music Career:

Ne-Yo’s breakthrough came as a songwriter, notably penning Mario’s 2004 hit “Let Me Love You.” This success led to a recording contract with Def Jam Records. His debut album, “In My Own Words” (2006), debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, featuring the chart-topping single “So Sick.” He continued his success with subsequent albums:

Personal Life:

Ne-Yo married Crystal Renay in 2016, and the couple has three children together. In 2022, reports emerged of their separation, with Crystal Renay filing for divorce amid allegations of infidelity.

Recent Activities:

In January 2025, Ne-Yo released his latest single, “Show Me,” accompanied by a music video.  He is also set to join Mary J. Blige on her “For My Fans Tour” in 2025, performing across various U.S. and Canadian cities. 

Additionally, Ne-Yo has ventured into boxing management, signing boxer Paul Bamba as his first client. Tragically, Bamba passed away in December 2024, shortly after winning the WBA Gold cruiserweight championship.
