Nate James Pretend Single

MOBO award nominee Nate James has a music style that combines the elements of funk, old school pop and contemporary souls artists across the UK and US; Omar, Prince, Musiq Soulchild and (in both mannerisms and hairdo) Maxwell. And from the sell out shows at the Jazz Café and the Shepherds Bush empire it's a music style his fans have come to accept and love.

His new single 'Pretend' (Produced by Jarod Rogers), with lines like 'Let down all your barriers you're hiding behind, Girl don't deny me' over a steady thumping bass and with what I believe will turn out to be his distinctive singing style - a modern Prince on some songs and a British Maxwell on others but all a style of his own, is a single that will probably help him break the British top 40 after 2 years on the scene. It was supposed to be released as a B Side to his first single 'Set the Tone'. The single is also released with the 'Princely' Cut A Rug'; Princely for both its suggestive message and its funkadelic beat.

Released 15th May.
