Actress Natascha McElhone has thrown her support behind a campaign to save a children's unit at the hospital where her late husband worked.
The Californication star lost her plastic surgeon partner Martin Kelly in 2008 after he suffered a cardiac arrest on the doorstep of the couple's London home.
Kelly worked at the British capital's Chelsea and Westminster Hospital and MCElhone is now backing a drive to save the facility's children's unit from closure due to planned budget cuts.
She tells Britain's Mail on Sunday newspaper, "This is one of the best hospitals in the country. I gave birth to my three sons there, and the hospital continues to provide an incredible service for my kids and all the kids in and around this area. It would be a tragedy if it was under threat."
Supporters of the campaign have produced a petition to save the unit and it has attracted more than 6,000 signatures so far.
