Professional golfer Natalie Gulbis signs a photo and poses for a picture with a female fan at the grand opening of Golf Galaxy - a golf equipment store in Las Vegas.
The American Olympic swimming champion Natalie Coughlin and the LPGA golfer Natalie Gulbis have both caused a stir by appearing in the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition. And whilst it might seem that Coughlin would be the more comfortable of the athletes, posing in a bikini, it transpires that, in fact, neither of the sports star was wearing a swimsuit at all, for the photo shoot.
Instead, the 'swimwear' was painted on by professional body painters, to give an illusion of real clothing. Coughlin posed for the photos showing off her toned body, but also, some impressive artistry, with a blue and white ripple-effect 'bikini' painted on. She told USA Today "It feels like something in between a swimsuit -- and being naked." The body paint reportedly took 11 hours to apply perfectly and she says that she stood the whole time and felt honored that the magazine's editors had thought of her to take part. The annual swimsuit edition of the magazine often causes controversy for portraying athletes in skimpy clothing but Coughlin says "It's awesome to be able to say I have done a Swimsuit Issue. When I'm old and wrinkly and out of shape, I'll be very, very proud of that. To have an athletic body in SI Swimsuit Issue, I think, is really important. SI is a sports magazine in the first place. So it's nice to have balance between models and athletes."

Natalie Gulbis, the 28-year-old ladies professional golfer, swimsuit model and television personality, has confirmed she is in a relationship with the PGA star DUSTIN JOHNSON, reports USA Today. Speculation began to intensify on Monday (9th January 2011) when Gulbis was spotted following Johnson around the Kapalua Golf Course in Hawaii.
Gulbis, who sparked controversy back in 2004 when she posed in swimwear for her own calendar and was later banned from selling it at golfing events by officials, confirmed the relationship yesterday, adding, "I'll let Dustin handle our PR". However, despite her claims, Johnson has declined to comment and he has pulled out of this week's Sony Open tournament. The golfer's agent DAVID WINKLE said that the 26-year-old had some "personal matters" to attend to back in South Carolina but it is not yet clear whether they concern Gulbis. The pair have known each other for several years and they are both coached by golf guru BUTCH HARMON, as well as sharing the same tour sponsor. Gulbis is one of the most lucrative female stars on the professional golf circuit and has secured endorsement deals with the likes of Adidas, Canon, MasterCard, EA Sports, TaylorMade, and Payment Data Systems.
The golfer and model was previously in a relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback BEN ROETHLISBERGER and she began writing an advice column for FHM after posing for the magazine in 2006.
Natalie Gulbis, the 28-year-old ladies professional golfer, model, and television personality, has confirmed she is dating the PGA star DUSTIN JOHNSON, reports USA Today. Gulbis was pictured at the Kapalua Golf Course yesterday (9th January 2011) where her new beau was competing.
After confirming that she and Johnson are an item, Gulbis added, "I'll let Dustin handle our PR". The golfer and model, who was previously in a relationship with the Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback BEN ROETHLISBERGER, is currently recovering from back surgery. She caused controversy in 2004 after releasing her own calendar shortly before the US Woman's Open. Some of the images included the golfer posing in swimwear and the United States Golf Association banned it from being sold at the event, deeming that it was inappropriate material. However, the 28-year-old was unperturbed and she posed for FHM in November of that year before beginning to write a monthly advice column for the magazine in 2006. Her rise to fame has seen Gulbis secure a number of lucrative endorsement deals with the likes of Adidas, Canon, MasterCard, EA Sports, TaylorMade, and Payment Data Systems. In 2009, she appeared in the second season of the reality show 'Celebrity Apprentice' to raise money for her chosen charity.
Johnson is considered to be one of the most promising young talents in the game, and he went close to winning both the US Open and the PGA Championship in 2010. The 25-year-old's total career earnings are estimated to be around $7.5 million.
