Jazz/soul singer-songwriter Natalie Duncan has released her haunting new single 'Sky is Falling' taken from her upcoming debut album 'Devil in Me' which is due for release on July 16th 2012.
The video for the exquisite track features a beautifully symbolic animation of diary pages being cut out into trees and buildings with moving drawings of various animals and a lonesome female striding across the book, before a fire starts burning behind it. It was shot at Peter Gabriel's Real World Studios using footage from her live videos. The piano instrumental delivers such a classical feel to the song, alongside Natalie's spine-tingling vocals.
Her album was produced by three-time Grammy winner Joe Henry (Ani DiFranco) after she was signed to Verve records (Etta James, Louis Armstrong, Queen Latifah, The Puppini Sisters). It took two years for Verve MD Simon Gavin to persuade Natalie to sign to a label after he saw her perform at a Nottingham pub. 'I just wasn't that sure about having a record deal', she said. 'He won me round eventually though and I'm glad I'm with a label that basically sent me off to do exactly what I wanted to do'.
Natalie is definitely one to look out for this summer. As she puts it, 'If you want to know who I am, all you have to do is listen to my music'.
