The actress has teamed up with bosses at the Planned Parenthood Action Fund to release the special garments, emblazoned with the words What Would Tami Taylor Do?
The phrase is a reference to Britton's character on her Tv series Friday Night Lights, which was set in Texas and dealt with the subject of abortion.
In a statement to USA Today, Britton says, "I have been inspired by how people around the country have united to stand with the women of Texas, and I can't help but think that, in this moment, we all have the opportunity to join with and become strong, powerful Texas men and women."
The shirts, ranging from $22 (£14) to $32 (£21), are released as Texas officials consider a tough bill that would result in a large number of abortion clinics being shut down. The proposal was blocked last week (25Jun13) but Governor Rick Perry re-opened the debate in a special session on Monday (01Jul13).
