Naomi Watts struggled to separate her career and personal life when she was cast as real-life partner Liev Schreiber's lover in The Painted Veil. Watts plays an unhappily married woman who cheats on her husband (Edward Norton) with Schreiber's character in the romantic film. Watts and Schreiber started dating five months before the shoot began in 2005, and the actress admits she was concerned their real-life romance would interfere with their characters' chemistry. She says, "People always think if you are a couple it won't work on screen and maybe that's true, but I think it worked on Painted Veil because we were in the early stages of our relationship; we just had to work a little bit harder to shut out our relationship and concentrate on the script and characters." The couple are expecting a baby in August (07).
