Naomi Watts has been cast alongside Leonardo Dicaprio in a forthcoming John Edgar Hoover biopic.
NAOMI WATTS, the 42-year-old Australian actress and star of 'King Kong' will play the FBI secretary 'Helen Gandy' in Clint Eastwood's upcoming movie 'J. Edgar', reports Deadline.com
DiCaprio will take the lead role in the movie, playing J. Edgar Hoover, while Judi Dench will play Hoover's mother Anna Marie. Ed Westwick, best known for his appearances in 'Gossip Girl', has been cast as the biographer 'Agent Smith'. Watts, who will also star as Marilyn Monroe in the upcoming movie 'Blonde' , was up against Charlize Theron for the role but the South African actress reportedly decided to instead accept the part of the 'Evil Queen' in 'Snow White and the Huntsman'. Hoover was the first Director of the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and was an instrumental figure in the unit's practises for nearly four decades. He was responsible for the investigation into the assassination of President John F Kennedy but much of the film will focus on the many scandals that Hoover become involved in as well as his controversial private life.
'J. Edgar' is scheduled to begin filming this year and will hit cinemas in 2012.
