Naomi Watts is planning to celebrate her Golden Globe nomination for her role in 'The Impossible' by eating cake for her son Samuel's birthday.
Naomi Watts celebrated her first Golden Globe Awards nomination by having birthday cake.
The 43-year-old actress let out a ''little yelp'' when her agent called her on Thursday morning (13.12.12) informing her of her Best Actress nomination for her role as a real-life survivor of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami in 'The Impossible'.
Her awards recognition came on the same day her son Samuel celebrated his fourth birthday and Naomi - who also has son Alexander 'Sasha', five, with her partner Liev Schreiber - is looking forward to them both celebrating with a slice of cake.
Speaking on the 'Today Show', she said: ''It's my son's birthday today. He's upset that I made that yelp. I had to explain what it was. Mommy got good news. And he said, 'It's my birthday.'
''We're having cake after school. It's all about Kai today. I won't get to celebrate until this weekend.''
Naomi is just one of many actors to reveal how thrilled they are at their Golden Globe nominations.
Nicole Kidman is nominated for the Best Supporting Actress accolade for 'Paperboy' and Best Performance by an Actress in a TV Movie or Miniseries for her role in 'Hemingway and Gellhorn' and she is both surprised and delighted.
Thanking the Hollywood Foreign Press Association that organises the ceremony, she said: ''As an actor you look for roles that are rich, complicated, and that stretch you and this year I was blessed to find two. To have the chance to play them was a gift in itself and to then be acknowledged this way is icing on the cake. Thank you to the Hollywood Foreign Press!''
Quentin Tarantino is also pleased he has been recognised for doing something he is ''passionate'' about.
Speaking about his Best Director, Best Screenplay and Best Motion Picture Drama nominations for 'Django Unchained', he said: ''It's very gratifying to get this many nominations from the HFPA for a film I worked so hard on and am so passionate about. I look forward to having fun at the Golden Globes with my castmates and fellow nominees.''
