Naomi Watts, the Australian actress who stars in Clint Eastwood's forthcoming movie 'J. Edgar', has opened up about her "beautiful" relationship with the late Heath Ledger. During a candid interview with More Magazine, Watts discussed how the actor - who passed away in 2008 - had a "special soul".
The 42-year-old actress, who now has two sons with Liv Schreiber, recalled her two year relationship with Ledger, saying, "We had a beautiful relationship, only a couple of years, but he was a man who was completely full of joy, and there was a lot of laughing and affection. He was really a very special soul". The Brokeback Mountain star died from an accidental overdose of prescription drugs in January 2008. Watts says she sympathises with Heath's 5-year-old daughter Matilda, whom he had with Michelle Williams, saying, "Not knowing my father always made me feel like a piece of myself was missing or unknown. Not reachable.Growing up, there was this wondering what he would think of me or what I would think of him". Ledger died shortly after wrapping up filming Christopher Nolan's 'The Dark Knight', in which he played the Joker. The actor posthumously scooped the Academy Award for 'Best Supporting Actor'.
Naomi Watts will soon begin work on Jeff Feuerzeig's drama 'The Bleeder', about the life of heavyweight boxer Chuck Wepner.
