The anticipation for this one has been high, and fans of Princess Diana will already have heard the news that Naomi Watts will be playing the late member of the royal family in a forthcoming biopic. Now they have caught their first view of what the 44 year-old looks like as the late Princess of Wales.
The Insider reports that the make-up and costume department have done a damn fine job on Watts, with the actress showing an uncanny resemblance to the Princess, who died in Paris in 1997 after being pursued by the paparazzi, causing a fatal car crash which also saw Mohammed Al-Fayed's son Dodi killed too. Wearing a sequined dress and accessorising with a pearl necklace as well as a dark clutch bag, Watts looks every inch the graceful royal. She might have played herself into Oscar attention already too, if recently history is anything to go on. Meryl Streep won an Oscar for her portrayal of former British Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher in 2011, whilst Michelle Williams was nominated for her role as Marilyn Monroe, proving that playing historical figures often yields success.
'Caught In Flight' will be a big role for Watts, though she should cope with the pressure fine having gained huge accolades for past roles in '21 Grams' and 'Mulholland Drive'.
