My Chemical Romance singer Gerard Way has teamed up with comic book idol GRANT MORRISON for advice on his own cartoon strip. The WELCOME TO THE BLACK PARADE rocker releases THE UMBRELLA ACADEMY next year (07) but was desperate for some last minute tips from the Superman, Batman and SPIDER-MAN writer. The pair met for lunch in Scotland yesterday (14NOV06) and Way admits the encounter was inspiring. He says, "He is probably my favourite writer. That guy has more ideas in his pinky than most people do in a lifetime, and he doesn't mind tossing all of them into just one issue. "His run on DOOM PATROL and Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums were two of my biggest influences, along with my experience of being in a rock band on the road." Way did not confirm whether the pair will be working on a project together.
