I'm Not Used to You/Fed Up
Essex quintet WinterKids are the latest band to have cut out the middle man and released music from their own label, taking advantage of the myspace-powered boom in self-promotion.
Despite their revolutionary way of spreading the word, the music itself is nothing new, keyboards borrowed from The Cure cut through jangly Britpop guitars, creating buoyant little songs that'll make you want to party like it's 1995.
Both tracks shimmer and sparkle in all the right places, but some leaden vocals ensure that they don't take off like they should.
'Smalls Change (Meditations Upon Ageing)' arrives in April.
The two awards have made for a great 72nd birthday present for the country music icon.
