Reports this week suggest the 18-year-old is in bother after a scuffle with a photographer in Los Angeles. Though with memories of Mariah Yeater still fresh, and no eyewitness to the "attack", we smell a rat!

Britney Ain't Bailing on X Factor: On her first day of X Factor auditions, Britney left fans biting their nails as she got up and left the studio, not returning until four acts later. The internet was abuzz that Spears had pulled out of the show, though she reassured fans on Twitter that she was simply taking a break. Probably from Simon Cowell!

Phillips Too Strong for Sanchez: As the X Factor begins its search for a star, American Idol has already found its latest sensation, in the form of singer-songwriter Phillip Phillips. Despite a turbulent competition, during which Phillips has endured numerous surgeries for a kidney problem, the singer beat Jessica Sanchez in the grand finale on Wednesday (May 23, 2012).

Amour Finds The Love At Cannes: As we reported last week, numerous films rocked up at the Cannes Film Festival with a chance of scooping the prestigious Palme d'Or. In the end, Wes Anderson's 'Moonrise Kingdom', and David Cronenberg's 'Cosmopolis', were unable to stop Michael Haneke winning the prize for a second time, with his emotional drama 'Amour'. Congratulations to Michael for a well-deserved victory!

K-Stew and R-Patz Also Find the Love: Though Kristen Stewart's 'On the Road' premiered to lukewarm reviews, Robert Pattinson had plenty to celebrate following a well-received performance in 'Cosmopolis'. The couple appear to be loosening up in their post-Twilight life together, and were snapped smooching on a balcony at Cannes!

Wedding Bells for Keira and James! We were pleased to hear the news last week that actress Keira Knightley and her musician boyfriend James Righton were engaged to be married. The couple have admirably kept their romance on the low-down since hooking up, but it appears that they're made for each other. Congratulations to them!

Beyonce, Back Where She Belongs: Perhaps the best news of the week came in the form of Beyonce's string of Memorial Weekend comeback concerts in Atlantic City. Fresh from giving birth to Blue Ivy Carter, the R&B superstar announced she had lost 60lbs before smashing through her back catalogue. It was as if she'd never been away!
