Rapper Trae Tha Truth is mourning the loss of two pals killed on Wednesday (20Jun12) in the Texas nightclub brawl which left him with a gunshot wound.
The star, real name Frazier Thompson Iii, was partying at after-hours venue Scores Cabaret in Houston, Texas when a gunman opened fire, injuring a total of five people.
Trae Tha Truth, who is currently signed to T.I.'s music label Grand Hustle Records, was shot in the back and taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment.
He has now opened up about the horrific incident, assuring fans he's on the mend but struggling to cope with the loss of two friends - Dinky D and Poppa C - who weren't so lucky.
A statement from MTV News reads, "The injury that Trae Tha Truth sustained... does not nearly compare to the wound he feels in his heart for the lives that were lost."
And Trae Tha Truth admits he is concerned about the pair's devastated family.
He tells XxlMag.com, "I'm not even really worried about me. My heart goes out to the kids that got to deal with losing (loved ones). Of course, it's always a painful thing for us to experience it, but it's even harder on a kid. My youngest son, Houston, when he got to see me for the first time (after the shooting), he's seeing his father with slings and bandages and blood comin' out of him. That type of stuff make kids go hysterical. They not used to it (sic). I had to sit down and explain it to him."
Police officials are in the process of determining a motive and, as WENN went to press, the killer was still at large.
