This years MTV Video Music Awards are hotting up to be the best so far, as a star-studded line-up has already been announced and, judging by the history of the VMAs, we can expect a few surprises too.
This year's award ceremony, which will be held on September 6th 2012, will include performances from Green Day, Rihanna, Pink, Taylor Swift and Alicia Keys, as well as first time performances from award nominees One Direction and Frank Ocean. British boyband One Direction were in fact given their own VMA special, which was aired on MTV on August 30th, called My First Time, during which they relived several celebrities' first performances at the iconic award show.
Meanwhile, new X Factor judge Demi Lovato will be entertaining fans during the official pre-show, whilst Calvin Harris gets the party started as he takes to the stage after.
Comedian Kevin Hart will host the show, with the funny-man being given a helping hand by a number of famous faces including Miley Cyrus, The Wanted, Wiz Khalifa, Andy Samberg and his Celeste And Jesse Forever co-star Rashida Jones and the gold medal winning U.S. Women's Olympics Gymnastics Team.
A total of sixteen different categories will be honoured at the awards show, with Rihanna leading the pack with four nominations, whilst One Direction, Justin Bieber and Drake trail her with three nominations each.
