Tokyo X Erotica Movie Review

Is there any point to Tokyo X Erotica beyond its copious sex scenes? Theoretically, yes, but I guarantee most viewers will be tuning in for the borderline pornography on display here. (If you've got an Asian gal fetish, Tokyo X has you covered.)

Ostensibly there's a story about two lovers in the 1990s who end up dead -- he gets snuffed in a terrorist attack, she gets offed by one of her prostitution clients. But then they return to life, inexplicably, and

The key word above is theoretically. Takahisa Zere (who once made a film called A Fart of Monk) wants to make a Ghost for the Japanese fetishist in all of us, whic is certainly saying something. What that something is is utterly open to interpretation, but I doubt anyone will get much more out of the film than some cheap titillation. That is, unless you're really into reincarnation.

Shot on digital video, the film has the aesthetic of a freshman film school project, with lots of weird cuts, stop-motion, and arbitrary switches between color and black and white. There's lots of sex, too, which I don't think they cover much of in film school.
