Imagine The Exorcism of Emily Rose (based on the same real-life story as
Requiem), but take out most of the sweaty histrionics, the trial, and just
about everything else that made the earlier movie at least passable. Requiem
instead choses to dwell on is-she-epileptic-or-is-she-possessed girl Michaela
(Mary Lynn Rajskub lookalike Sandra Hüller) in her quieter hours... hanging
around with friends, romancing the local boy, and finally confessing her
strange visions to a priest.
Thrills are pretty much nonexistent in this film, and it desperately needs
them, as the movie otherwise feels like Hüller is wandering around like a bored
teenager for much of the film, albeit one who should still be taking her
medication.
