Death By Design Movie Review
Jean-François Brunet and Peter Friedman mix talking heads with lab visits and semi-non-sequitur archive footage to make their points. Or rather, to explain how cells work. We visit with researchers who know the life cycle and function of every single cell in a 1mm-long worm. We see video of a cell dying and evaporating. We hear about how cells have to work together to stay alive. And we see a choreographed number of kids and adults in a circle, playing with mock snowballs.
Fun stuff, and the documentary contains a few nuggets I didn't already know, but by and large it's entry-to-mid-level material. Also included on the new DVD is the very similar documentary The Life and Times of Life and Times. Get it?
