Singer Morrissey sent his nephew to a book launch to publicly rebut a claim the rocker used vocal-correction technology on his most recent album.
A special event was held in the British star's hometown of Manchester, England on Friday (07Oct11) to mark the publication of Morrissey: Fandom, Representations and Identities.
The event also featured a question-and-answer session, but organisers received a nasty surprise when a relative of the former The Smiths frontman stood up and read a statement from the singer.
The unnamed man, who identified himself as a nephew of the star, told the crowd Morrissey wished to rebut a claim in the book that Auto-Tune software was used to adjust his vocals on Something Is Squeezing My Skull, a track on the rocker's 2009 album Years of Refusal.
In a statement, an editor of the new book writes, "Morrissey's nephew did read a statement referring to a single issue which he disagrees with in one of our book's chapters."
