Kings Of Leon's Jared Followill formed his new band to stop himself going ''stir crazy.''

The bassist started side project Smoke and Jackal with his friend Nick Brown during his year off from touring with his main group, and they recorded six songs in eight days.

He told Rolling Stone magazine: ''I knew that I would go a little bit stir-crazy just not doing anything and not having any artistic outlets.

Bob Hoskins is retiring from acting after being diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.

The 69-year-old actor has announced he is giving up his profession after being diagnosed with the degenerative nervous system disorder last autumn.

He has thanked fans for his ''wonderful career'' and he now hopes to spend more time with his family.

Russell Brand is in talks to star in and produce new movie 'Cupid'.

The 'Rock of Ages' actor - whose divorce from singer Katy Perry was finalised last month - is set to play the titular character in Joe Nussbaum's romantic comedy after Warner Bros. acquired the pitch for the 37-year-old comedian and Nik Linnen to produce.

The motion picture is set in the present day and will see Cupid - who is expected to be a more cynical version of the Greek God of affection, desire and love - tasked with creating a perfect romance, Variety reports.

The Killers' new album is inspired by Sir Elton John's hits.

The group's frontman Brandon Flowers recently met the 'Crocodile Rock' star's songwriting partner Bernie Taupin and took some tips from him on creating ''epic'' tracks.

Speaking about one of the group's new songs, 'Miss Atomic Bomb', Brandon told NME magazine: ''There's a very iconic picture of the first Miss Atomic Bomb. A mushroom cloud-shaped bathing suit is covering her breasts. It's a beautiful picture of this woman in the desert. I think she's still alive.

Matthew Morrison says working with Sir Elton John was "surreal".

The 'Glee' star worked with the legendary singer on a song 'The Elton Collaboration' - a medley of 'Rocket Man' and 'Mona Lisas and Mad Hatters' - for his new album 'Matthew Morrison' and says it was a wonderful experience.

He revealed: "Elton is a fan of the show and I told him I wanted to take two of his songs and do a mash-up. He said I could do anything apart from 'Crocodile Rock'. I spent three days going through his catalogue and came up with those two tracks. Being in the studio with his was surreal. It was work but it was glorious work."

My Chemical Romance has received five nominations for the 2011 Kerrang! Awards fuelled by Relentless Energy Drink.

The 'Bulletproof Heart' hitmakers lead the way for this year's honours, finding themselves in the running for Best Album for 'Danger Days: The True Lives of the Fabulous Killjoys', Best International Band, Best Live, Best Single for 'Planetary (Go)' and Best Video for their hit 'Na Na Na'.

The group - fronted by Gerard Way - are thrilled by their multiple nominations.

threatened to blind him.


The STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO star, 91, stunned fans when he showed up
looking frail at last month's (MAR03) Oscars ceremony, but he now insists he's
doing fine following experimental eye surgery.


Malden says, "When you come as close as I did to losing the gift of sight,
you realise how beautiful life is and what you would be missing if you couldn't
see."
