Elliot also shared a trailer for an as-yet-untilled, upcoming documentary which featured friends of the rapper including Pharrell and Busta Rhymes talking about her decades long career and influence on hip hop. But visually I have to see what I'm going to do with that record when I perform it.”

Elliot hasn’t released an album since The Cookbook in 2005, but she did return with a new single in November 2015, ‘WTF (Where They From)’ featuring Pharrell Williams. Earlier that year she had made a surprise appearance at the Super Bowl, where Katy Perry was the halftime performer.

Speaking to Billboard in 2015, Missy revealed why she’s still cautious about releasing new music. "I have to be very careful," she said. ”It's different now. People are quick to be like, 'You're irrelevant, you're a flop, you're washed up.’"
